Dancing With Time
Winter 2024 Issue
By Beth Amine
The holiday season is full of fun and sparkle, friends, family, and the joy of giving. But a frantic pace and increased responsibilities can also make it a time of burnout and distress.
Is it possible to create balance during this vibrant time of year? Yes! Dancing With Time means joyfully timeless living, remaining in the flow of life while at the same time being conscious of your own pace. To generate and maintain happiness throughout our lives, we must become accustomed to understanding and doing what makes us feel good.
Take some time for quiet and prioritize yourself in whatever way works for you. The ultimate in self-care is factoring yourself into the list of what you are “supposed to” do.
What would that look like for you? Some alone time to put your feet up every day, even for only fifteen minutes? A daily walk in nature or keeping up your exercise routine rather than letting the days slip by? Imagine if this was the time of year to pay attention to self-care more than any other and you put yourself on your own gift list. Returning to our theme of self-love as the basis of stability in life, remember—you matter too!
Winter is a time of silence. Nature takes a break and rests before the light of spring comes. Every day can contain moments of silence as well as joy. This comes down again to how you value yourself. Ask, “How can I be kind and nurturing to myself today?”
A personal care practice I enjoy at this time is choosing a word for the coming year, a word describing my intention or direction for the new year. This year is is Ease. After many years at a relentless pace, I am finding the deliciousness of balance and simply enjoying me. When you think about it, a theme will often easily appear. For you, is it Peace, Abundance, Love, Courage, Expansion? What is your word?
Happy Holidays and a wonderful New Year! With much love, Beth
